CONFLICT

Video Reflections:

Own Reflection (Hamnah, Isabella, Amal, Zeina (me)):

The topic we are doing is a very serious one and can be sensitive for other people. We tried to make the video properly (without laughing) and tried to make it seem realistic. It should be a video to encourage people to find help or help each other. We took different days to film the scenes. When we were filming the last scene, we asked the pizza hut guy to film us but after we left we found out that we had his finger on the camera so we had to do a voice over to make the sound better and we tried to hide the finger (it didn't work out but you could hear what we were saying). Also, Isabella could've had a scene and we could have at least shown her for a minute telling Amal (delivery guy) to leave in an angry tone. I think we did good, because we didn't leave it till the last minute and we tried to have clothes -that aren't school clothes- on and the tone we were using whilst speaking was good and matched the situation we were in, example; Hamnah sounded sad and distant since she was being abuse and she also acted as if everything was okay. And Amal sounded worried because Hamnah had scars on her face and a black eye so she was acting concerned. Isabella sounded angry (she was the husband), even though she wasn't shown in the video, you could get the idea and picture because she got her point straight by saying to Hamnah "DIDN'T I TELL YOU TO NOT OPEN THE DOOR?", I think that showed a little bit about the fact that the husband wasn't a good one. I tried to be serious and I tried not to laugh (I ended up laughing...) and we could have tried recording a couple of times just to get a clip without me laughing in it instead of putting that.

Nada, Ali, Ahmad, Omar:

Their video was good but not all of them were shown in the video and we only heard Nada and Ali talking and we saw Ahmad but he barley did anything and we only saw Omar's shadow. They could have done better by showing everyone else and not only one person because I couldn't really understand what was going on , other than the fact that Ahmad was crying or scared and At first I thought Omar was going to hit Ahmad because his shadow was walking towards Ahmad and he wasn't filmed hitting Nada or Ali (whichever was the wife). They could have also shown Nada holding the phone and maybe crying whilst talking on the phone because when we heard her, she sounded calm and she didn't sound scared.
3/8

Sava, Alex, Ibrahim. Nikita:
They acted good but Ibrahim sounded angry an jumped into the point and he didn't listen to Alex but he just yelled on the phone but then he calmed down so he got kind of better. I think Sava was the best at acting like a husband and Alex acted good too but Sava made it seem more realistic but his scene was there for only a few seconds. There was a scene where we weren't sure if Alex was laughing or crying because, it sounded like she was laughing but she turned away to make it look like crying, so, she could have at least made it seem like she was actually crying. Half the video was just words and just a few seconds of them, they shouldn't have left the filming to the  last minute because, then they would have a way better video than that.  They repeated the same words at least four or two times, which I think isn't really 'professional' I think if Nikita had a longer scene it would also make the video longer (also Sava). They could have also put Nikita trying to stop Sava (to show people how this kind of abuse is as dangerous as child abuse and people should help stop it) and ending up hurting him a little or Nikita trying to call the police to stop Sava from hurting Alex, to help. They also had a watermark at the end which they could have cropped out of the video.
4/8

Glenn, Maya, Mohanad, Anishka:
Their video was short but Mohanad's acting was good and we got the message but we couldn't really hear what Glenn and Anishka were saying. In the end, it said that people can get abused verbally too but they didn't talk when Maya was getting abused (I think she was dead though) and they wrote "mins" but they should've written "minutes" because it is supposed to be a serious video. Maya should have also supposed to have a bit longer part to act in because she was only lying on the floor and she looked dead so I don't really see the point of Glenn and Anishka trying to help anymore since Maya was already dead so what are they trying to help out in? Mohanad could've been yelling at her (Maya) to make it seem more real because it didn't really make sense and if anyone else was watching it, I don't think they would have understood what was going on at first. When Glenn was calling the police, she showed the camera that her phone wasn't open so it made the whole scene look fake, plus, Anishka and Glenn weren't even panicking or at least crying and they looked/sounded as if they were used to this kind of thing.
2/8

Nicolai, Hassan, Sam, Xiang:
Their video looked good because they used stage combat. Nicolai and Hassan acted good and serious but Xiang laughed after Hassan 'hit' her, which isn't at all realistic. If Nicolai has been hearing yelling for months, we hadn't he gone to stop it and/or called the police from before, instead on waiting for a long time. Sam could have at least been in the video (instead of just his voice) and helped because after him and Nicolai hung up on the phone they only showed another scene of Hassan hitting Xiang (in slow-motion) and they could have shown Sam (maybe) knocking on the door (he was the police) and then ending the video there.

The Letter from Bosko's Mother

Dear Mr. Ismic,

I think you should bury Bosko and Admira where they were shot, it would only be fair for the both of us and for them to be together even after they have passed away, Bosko promised her that they will always be together and that way, they will be with each other, forever.

I hope you understand what I am trying to deliver.

Thank you,

Mrs. Brkic

Disturbance scene:

Hamnah, Mohanad, Xiang, Maya, Ali's group:

Their performance was good but Maya and Xiang didn't have much part in the act and it didnt really match the music that miss was playing. Xiang was the only one that did thought-tracking and it was about Hamnah and Mohanad having a fight about them.
(6-7)

Isabella, Sava, Amal, Nada, Omar's group:

They started well but Isabella wasn't really into the act but Nada and Amal didn't really have a proper scene. The act matched the music that miss was playing. Isabella did the thought tracking, complaining about how Sava was always drunk.
(5-6)

Anishka, Sam, Glenn, Hassan, Nikita's group:

Their act didn't match the music at all and nobody really did any thought tracking. They didn't have any characters. We couldn't really tell where the setting was.

REALITY TV

Reality TV Reflection

During this reality TV unit, my characterisation skills were developed by making me more confident to act out my character so that i would know how to act her out.A target I am giving myself to improve my characterisation skills for next term is to try building up my confidence and not be shy when i am acting a scene out because then it might not fit when i am acting out and i will get lower marks. For my homework, maybe i could a little more detail to the work that i hand in. What i really enjoyed during this unit is that we got to pretend to be other humans, other than ourselves. My greatest achievement in drama this term was that I was bit confident to act out my character because i am usually/normally, a very shy person, when it comes to act and/or presenting, so this was a big jump for me.

Thought Tracking

Being voted off: Being voted off is really weird, like, you're used to the people around you. You wake up every morning and find them with you and then suddenly you realise that this would be your last day to see them 24/7. It's very sad to be voted off, even though they still had to do this it hurts, a lot...

Who I would vote off: Honestly, I would vote off William Crompton. I would vote him off because all he does is play video games, like, can't he socialise more? Or at least leave his video games for a while. I'm just not fond of him that much, I just like his hair, he actually takes care of it and makes it look good!

Best Bits

Reality TV Debate

I don't think reality TV is more entertaining than dramas but it is more entertaining than documentaries. I think this because reality TV is more towards people's lives and i find that boring (to listen/watch other people's lives). There are a few problems for contestants on programmes like Big Brothers since in Big Brother, like; you all sleep in the same room and live in the same house together, boys and girls, and maybe some people are against this kind of things so being in that show would make them uncomfortable and/or might ruin their 'reputation' or get them kicked out of school (if religious school).  Reasons that might get the contestants quite a reality show, is 1) Contestants are not getting along and 2) they have their own personal problems and wouldn't share with anyone or 3) they thought it would be fun but ended up not liking it, etc... I don't think all action that we see on reality TV programmes are real, because they obviously have someone who tells them what to do (behind the camera) and then in the middle f filming the contestants can change some stuff.

Marking the Moment

For our conflict we had that someone would have broken something and they would try to hide it and another person confronts the others. We chose this scene to mark our moment because all our characters were in it and it kind of explains the problem. I think the characters that built tension in this were Sam, Ahmed and Sava's characters because they were in the centre of the moment. It builds tension because Sam is trying to push Ahmed and Sava away from each other and that just explains, to whoever looks at the photo, that there was a fight and/or one of the characters did something bad to the other.

Team Challenge!

Team Mates:
- Amal
- Alexandra
- Nicolai
- Nikita
- Nada
- Zeina (me)

The whole class was split into three groups of six in each. We had to work as a team since this was a challenge. First challenge was to make the eiffel tower, we didn't know what to do at first but then we had the idea to make the shape on the floor. Second challenge was to hide the tallest person in our group, we were going to curve around him (like a bridge) but then we thought of something better, just standing infront of him and someone sitting in the bottom to hide the bottom. Third challenge was to do the conga around another group. Fourth challenge was to write a word (not three lettered) out of our own bodies. We thought of many words but we ended up doing the word Love, we didn't know how to do it at first but we figured to put the tallest team mate as the L, two people as the O (since it has a space in the middle), the V was made by two people laying sideways and the E was made by someone just laying on the ground with his arms and legs out sideways. Fifth challenge was to stand in age and take one normal selfie and one with ugly faces. Last challenge was to make a circle, we thought of sitting but then did it whilst standing. In the end we were the first to finish of all groups.

I think we worked good as a group, because everyone got a turn to give their own idea on what to do for each challenge and then we would verge them all together and make one idea out of them all.
