DRAMA - MELODRAMA PICTURES

Villan, here I was acting as if I was laughing after I thought of an evil plan.

Clumsy Sidekick, in this I acted as if I was confused on what I did.
Damsel in Disteress, here I was acting that I was clueless on how I was kidnapped.

Week 8

During today’s lesson we performed our Puppet Theatre show to year 7. The feedback we received was that we sould have showed what the characters were doing and make the music more syncronised with the story and a bit quieter. Our group felt that our performance went bad because we messed up in the cracter's movement a little. Personally I think it was good, because on the script and the music we worked really hard but the play turned out not to be great or bad, it turned out gto be okay/good.
What went well was;
  • How the music altougher sounded great
  • How the narrators spoke loud enough
  • How the people playing the music/instruments didint mess up.

It wouldve been better if:

  • The music was the same volume (or a bit lower) with the characers speaking
  • Made the characters move correctly with the story

Week 7

During today’s lesson we reflected on our work and last weeks feedback. We then discussed how we could improve our product/show. This was what we have decided to do;
  • Make an opening for each character (Using the drums for the turtle and the piano for the Rabbit)

Week Six

During today’s lesson we performed our music to the rest of our Theatre Group.
We reflected on our work so far and discussed how we could improve our product/show so far.
This was what we have decided to do:
The Saron will play the same time as the Peking, then after they finish one time and Saron hits the letter 'D', Kethuk will hit the instrument they're using and then Kenong (Me) will join in with my parts.

Weeks Four and Five

During today’s lesson we split into our Shadow Puppet Theatre Company groups. We decided on who was responsible for which part…
We explored the different musical elements to try & get the best features for our version of our fairy tale.
This is what we explored:
The voices of the characters (Who will voice who)
Who will do which part in the music (Peking, Kethuk, Kenong or Saron)
How the background will be like
-

This is what we discarded because (Backgrounds):
We were doing it as a shadow theater so it wont show anyways.
This is what we kept because (Voices and Music):
We had to keep the voices, because nobody will know what the puppets are doing since there isn't much narrating, and the music will be needed as a background noise to entertain the audience

Week Three

During today’s lesson we learned how to play a piece of Gamelan. Gamelan is a traditional community activity from Indonesia that they used to play a long time ago, and probably still do.
We learned to play Lancaran Cobowo as a class. We started by learning how to do the Peking part then the Saron, Kethuk and Kenong, till we got the all correct.
We noticed that the parts had varying levels of difficulty because they weren't all the same beat/tone, they all had different timings.

Week Two

During today’s lesson we split into groups to further develop our own stories based on a fairy tale. These were the decisions we made after mind-mapping/exploring ideas:
Cinderella or The Tortoise and The Hare.

We decided to adapt our story for a 21st Century & family audience by making the main character start playing the game; Pokemon Go on his phone, since lots of people play it now-a-days and we made the winner of the race (in our story) get a hover-board!

Week One

During today’s lesson we learnt about Shadow Puppet Theatre Performances. We watched some YouTube videos that showed , how Indonesian Gamelan music was used to accompany a story.

We started to look at ideas for appropriate stories to create our own version of a shadow puppet show for young children. Our group discussed the following as potential ideas:
  • Cinderella
  • Little Red Riding Hood

In the end we chose The Hare and the Tortoise!
